oh oh my....

I'm watching Natalie Merchant on PBS. The combination of her crazy-ass dancing, red lips, long black hair, politics, and a voice that could shatter windows are cause for my latest obsession(latest as in the past 20 minutes). It certainly doesn't hurt that she has big hands and short nails, not that I was checking.

"we could write our names here in the mud..... [Apr. 1st, 2004|12:20 pm]

.....no one's around to see them. we could hang our shoes here in a tree, no one's around to steal them."

I just returned from a lovely, if slightly boring trip to pullman. Tuesday i drank margaritas with my old roommates. You know mixed drinks are never as good as you expect, but give me a few PBRs in the sun on the front porch and I'm set.

Wednesday i hung out with Jessica and Josh. Their house is adorable and they're so happy. So what is better than that? Jessica and i talked about the School of the Americas, gay marriage, bush, and a certain unexpected heterosexist woman for whom I've lost a tremendous amount of respect.

She also brought up what the bastard minister said at her wedding. I had been really surprised and offended that during the ceremony he had managed to say that a marriage is "only between a man and a woman" twice. It turns out she asked him 3 times before the wedding not to say it. And she nearly stopped him to kick his ass right in the middle but wasn't sure that she had heard him right. So my respect for her is greater than ever and i'm reassured that her convictions are as true and as impressive as always.

So now i'm off to see a room about a red wall.

"You roared into the driveway of our southwestern ranch-style house on a new Kawasaki all yellow and black. Our house faced east so the big orange sun positioned at your big lit up your magnificent silhouette. How much better how much better could my life get? 900 cubic centimeters of raw whining power and no outstanding warrants for my arrest. Hi-diddle-dee-dee goddamn the pirate's life for me!"

Back in Spokane [Mar. 27th, 2004|08:34 pm]

Today i saw a bumper sticker that epitomizes Spokane state of mind. There was the standard american flag but beneath it it said "If you can read this thank a teacher. If you can read this in english thank a soldier."

And then i threw up.

When you are 8 years old wielding a package of 200 glow-in-the-dark star stickers and a step ladder you don't picture yourself, 19 with the same step ladder(a bit less stable in its old age, and yours) Putty knife in hand with painting on your spring break to-do list. If you did you might never open that package of stickers.

Just a thought.

How is it that i manage to feel both completely in love and utterly broken.

I can't even remember where i left my tiny limping heart.

On the path to gasworks park picking blackberries?
On our beach at priest lake watching fireworks?
In bed with her, Alix on her laptop speakers?

Our love never satisfied my parents or the government or people driving past us on the street. But i never imagined that it could come so short of satisfying us.

But she is the one who helped me remember how to feel. So i guess i have to take the bad with the good.

I think that "to the Teeth" is Ani's most amazing and under appreciated albums. It is beautiful.

standing + big paper + Ani on headphones + a hot model = my best work ever!

I felt like i was dancing but on paper with charcoal.

In a flash of what i hope to be warranted confidence I will say this: Western can't fucking afford to turn me down!

So friday while being a good physical therapy patient I was doing some jumping shit in the back yard. It turns out it was a lot more slippery than i had thought, I fell and landed on my knee. So now my already unusually large scar looks more like an oversized blood blister. And after two days of standing on a tile floor washing dishes i can't sit still without it throbbing. I'm sorry i just told you all that because as i type it i realise that the blood blister thing sounds really gross. However, note that i am not sorry enough to erase it.

And as for something wonderful: ANI IN SPOKANE APRIL 12TH!!!!!!

Who's with me?! i'm fuckin' serious. I can give you a place to stay (assuming I decide to stay).

So if a certain hot redhead thinks she may be missing a certain hot pink/purplehead by april i suggest that she go to any means necessary to acquire the funds for a quick overnight(or not so quick overmonth if she would prefer) trip back to the states. Said pink/purplehead will even spring for her Ani ticket;)

Yesterday in the darkroom "Little Plastic Castle" came on the radio and totally made my day! Missoula college radio rocks my ass off.

I will leave you with this:

"I wish they could see us now in leather bras and rubber shorts, like some ridiculous new team uniform for some ridiculous new sport. Some one call the girl police and file a report."

much much love

I am not certain why i just posted so angry. I am actually a much happier person than my journal would have you believe.

Three more hours of class and it's my weekend!

And my sister is coming to town tommorrow.
